Stem cell engineering, tissue engineering and systems biology to model and control blood stem cells and their niches
Our major goal is to generate blood cells (hematopoietic stem cells, T cells, red blood cells) from pluripotent stem cells for applications such as bone marrow transplant, immunotherapy, and disease modeling. We aim to recreate tissues in the laboratory by understanding how cells communicate and work together to make decisions in their native environments. By collecting high-throughput omic data, we quantify the expression of genes, networks, and signaling pathways across different cell types. A more comprehensive understanding of these complex systems is needed to empower stem cell engineering and realize translational applications ranging from drug screening to transplantation and regeneration.
